Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its extensive safaris. During a self-drive journey through this park, you can observe a diverse range of wildlife, including African elephants, African buffalos, Ugandan kob, hippopotamuses, topis, waterbucks, warthogs, and giant forest hogs, along with Nile crocodiles at the Kazinga Channel. Moreover, leopards, spotted hyenas, and chimpanzees inhabit the Kyambura Gorge, while lions can be seen on the Kasenyi plains. In total, the park boasts 95 species of mammals and more than 600 species of birds.

The 4x4 Land Cruiser (Uganda Self-drive Safaris)
For self-drive tours, a 4×4 is a must and a Land Cruiser is recommended. This is because most of the roads that access National Parks in Uganda are not paved. Track roads in the park are sometimes hard to drive on with low-suspension vehicles. A car with more ground clearance is recommended because of the nature of the roads in National Parks. We always provide 4×4 vehicles with automatic transmission to our travellers because they’re easy to operate. Older models are very flexible on rough roads and easy to fix at any point.
Camping on a safari in Uganda is one of the options you can choose on your holiday to Uganda with a self-drive tour. With a rooftop tent, rent a 4×4 with one or two double tents at a reasonable price. There are several campsites in Uganda’s National parks where you can camp with a 4×4 or ground camping. This is not only adventurous but also cost-effective.
